I was born in Norway and have lived in Rio de Janeiro since 1986. I have 15 years’ experience in translating, teaching and interpreting in Norwegian, Portuguese and English.
Translation
Norwegian / Portuguese / English – any combination
- In 2006 I translated Norwegian Åsne Seierstad’s “The Bookkeeper from Kabul” into Portuguese. Since it was published in June the same year it has been on top of the Brazilian bestseller list. The editor has nominated the book for one of Brazil’s most important literature awards (Prêmio Jabuti 2007) in the category for Best Translation.
- I translate the monthly house magazine for the world’s second largest mining company, CVRD, for their subsidiary company in Norway.
- I have current assignments for the Norwegian General Consulate, the Norwegian Seafood and Export Council, Innovation Norway, all of them in Rio.
- I have frequent assignments for Brazilian and Norwegian oil/gas companies.
- I have experience with technical documents, contracts, news reportages, reports, research, legal documents, marketing, various house magazines, films and literature.
Interpreting
- In October 2003 I was Norwegian Queen Sonja’s personal interpreter during the weeklong state visit. We travelled around Brazil, met president Lula, state governors and Brazilian top business managers.
- In September 2005 I was interpreter for Norwegian band A-ha’s vocalist Morten Harket during a two-days visit to the Amazon, invited by Hydro Brazil.
- I have current assignments as interpreter for Norwegian ministers and representatives on official visits to Brazil. In August 2006 I worked for the Norwegian Development Minister Erik Solheim in Rio de Janeiro and in March 2007 for the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association.
- In 2005 I was interpreter for the Brazilian state governor of Espirito Santo on his visit to Norway. We were in Bergen, Stavanger and Oslo where we met business managers and politicians.
- I have frequent assignments for the Norwegian and Brazilian national oil/gas companies Statoil and Petrobras.
- I am also interpreter in lawsuits where Norwegians are involved.
Language courses
- I teach Norwegian, Portuguese and English for Norwegian companies in Rio de Janeiro. (Hydro Brasil, NorSkan, Teekay, Statoil)
